Operator/Technician Training
Typically at the end of a process and control system improvement project I am asked to conduct a formal training class for the site's operators and/or technicians.Trainer
Pulls training material together and conducts a formal training class typically for system process operation.PROJECT: Boiler Controls Upgrade Project• Organized and provided a thorough training class that included the controllers, the new instrumentation, and the new control design. Provided formal documents and conducted "hands-on" operation demonstrations.
PROJECT: Combined Cycle Power Plant Steam Drain System Improvement Project• Conducted technician training on how to properly complete a full pneumatic valve actuator setup and calibration. This included properly setting the zero and span in coordination with a secure shutoff with full valve actuator stroke.
PROJECT: DCS Upgrade Project• Conducted "hands-on" operator training as part of the startup activities returning this unit to service after the major DCS upgrade was completed.
PROJECT: Gas Compressor Control Logic Upgrade Project• Conducted a full "hands-on" operator/technician training class on the upgraded control logic, hardware, and gas compressor operations using the portable bench test system built as part of the design work.
• Wrote a formal Operating Procedures manual for the upgraded control system on these gas compressors. The manual included 22 pages of written procedures and 11 pages of Power Point illustrations as reference diagrams.
PROJECT: Hydro Power Plant Refurbishment & Upgrade Project• Conducted extensive operator and technician training classes including all operational steps required to run the unit and the technical expertise to diagnose unit problems on all systems.
PROJECT: Simultaneous Restoration of Two Biomass Power Plants• Conducted a formal operator training class providing complete instruction on the process and control fundamentals for single, two, and three element boiler drum level control.
PROJECT: Solar Turbine Refurbishment & Turb/HRSG Controls Upgrade Project• Provided a complete hands on training class for the control system upgrades to the turbine and Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). This scope included all formal written material and conducting three full days of classes.
